Savor Life Like You Savor Your Tea

How often do you make a cup of tea (or coffee) only to let it get cold before you can drink it. It’s too hot to drink initially, you get busy doing other things and then BAM it’s cold. How often do you have literal moments in life like this? You keep putting off your exercise to a later time, until it’s time to go to bed and you didn’t get in moment. You keep rescheduling plans with a friend until they just stop asking to get together. I’m sure you can think of a relatable moment for yourself.

What if you were to properly enjoy your tea instead?

You allow your tea to steep for the correct amount of time, poor your cup, and wait. What do you do while waiting? Enjoy the moment, the quiet, the calm. Talk with friends of family members, eat a scone. I’ve been starting a new practice where I journal. Allow this to really become a meditative experience for you.

Okay now thats actual tea. Let’s now see how you can apply this to your life…

When you’re with a friend of family member, be in the moment, not worrying about what’s going on in the world around you. Enjoy the hear and now.

When you’re exercising, cut off the distractions around you and in your head of what this workout is supposed to look like, and get in touch with your body. Only steep for the time needed and take it slow.

How might you savor life a little more? Share with me in the comments.
